Celebrating Jill: Our May 2026 Shining Star of the Pack

We are absolutely thrilled to announce Jill as our May 2026 Shining Star of the Pack! Jill and her family bring boundless love and dedication to our rescue community. Since moving to Colorado Springs in 2013, Jill has built a vibrant life alongside her two sons and their two welcoming Goldendoodles, Calvin and Hobbs. When they are not caring for rescue dogs, her family loves traveling and hitting the ski slopes together. Their home bursts with energy, laughter, and plenty of wagging tails.

Jill began her fostering journey with Karl's Canine Krew in October 2024. She opened her doors to her very first foster, a sweet dog named Cinnamon. Since that day, she has made a profound impact on our mission.

"Fostering dogs gives vulnerable animals a safe place to land while they wait for their forever homes, and it opens the door for them to heal, trust, and thrive."

Jill believes this open door allows dogs to heal, trust, and truly thrive. She and her family take on this important work together. Fostering teaches them valuable lessons about compassion, patience, and the massive difference a safe, loving home makes.

Rescue work always comes with deep emotions.

"The hardest part is letting go. Saying goodbye is the emotional punch everyone talks about."

Jill notes that although farewells are tough, the incredible rewards far outweigh the difficult moments. As a foster parent, you get a front-row seat to an amazing physical and emotional transformation. When a foster dog finally heads off to their forever family, you know you played a life-changing role in their unique story. Watching a scared or uncertain dog learn to trust again makes Jill feel deeply grounded and grateful. She sees firsthand the undeniable difference one family can make. Fostering shapes who they are and how they show up in the world.

Jill also understands the power of a strong, connected rescue network.

"One of the most impactful things people can do is offer practical help—donating supplies, sharing adoptable dogs, spreading awareness."

She encourages the local community to offer practical help to support these vital efforts. When our community steps in with resources and loud encouragement, it strengthens the entire network. This vital support allows dedicated volunteers to focus entirely on giving animals a safe path home.
