MEET THIS MONTH’S FOSTER SPOTLIGHT!

CHRIS & SHAWN

🐾 Fosters of the Month: Chris & Shawn – A Dynamic Duo with Hearts of Gold 🐾

This June, we’re celebrating Chris and Shawn—an incredible foster duo who pour love, structure, and dedication into every pup they welcome.

Chris brings 25+ years of experience (and a soft spot for mama dogs), while Shawn has been fostering right alongside her for the past two years. Together, with help from their own dogs, Odin and Poovey, they’ve helped countless dogs feel safe, loved, and ready for forever homes.

They’re all about teamwork—whether it’s building confidence in shy dogs or cooking big meals to share with friends. We’re lucky to have them in the KCK family. Let’s give a big round of a-paws for Chris and Shawn! 🐶💛

Some Quick Facts about Chris and Shawn:
Q: How long have you been fostering?
A: I (Chris) have been fostering for over 25 years now. I started with pitties from fighting rings, and grew from there. My favorite thing is fostering mama dogs. Seeing babies come into the world and getting them good homes is the best feeling! Shawn and I have been fostering together for almost 2 years.

Q:What made you want to become a foster family?
A: Shawn and I both have a love of dogs that goes way back. Once we had our own home we wanted to share it with dogs. Our two personal dogs are amazing foster siblings, and we love seeing them teach other dogs how to “dog”.

Q:What is the hardest part about fostering?
A: When dogs don’t respond to our environment. We give so much love and understanding, it’s hard when you have to admit that your environment isn’t right for them. But we’re so grateful for Karl’s because everyone works together to find a better placement when it’s necessary.

Q: What is the best part about fostering?
A:When you take a dog that is scared of everything and teach them what love looks like. Then they find their forever family and nothing beats the feeling of leaving empty-handed from an adoption event knowing they will have a full, happy life and we got to be a part of it.
