Each month, we’re howlin’ with excitement to introduce you to KCK’s Shining Star of the Pack—a foster or volunteer who’s gone above and beyond for our pups. From late-night potty breaks to early-morning transport runs, these heroes are the heartbeat of our rescue. 💫🐕
MEET THIS MONTH’S SHINING STAR!
CHRISTI
Shining Star of the Pack – August Edition: Meet Christi!
This month, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on Christi—a dedicated, longtime foster who brings heart, hope, and a whole lot of love to everything she does with Karl’s Canine Krew.
Christi’s journey into rescue began four years ago, just months after the heartbreaking loss of her beloved yellow lab, Roxie. Wanting to ease back into having a dog around, she opened her home to fostering—and the rest is history. Since then, she’s helped save countless lives, and her commitment never wavers.
“The hardest part of fostering is waiting for the dog to get adopted. There are just so many out there that need homes,” Christi shares.
But the reward is always worth it:
“The best part is knowing you helped save a life from euthanasia and gave that dog the best chance at a new life.”
A Colorado native, Christi was born in La Junta and has called Colorado Springs home since 1979. She’s been married to her husband Tony for 32 years, and together they share their home with their lovable “foster fail” Rowdy, who graciously shares his space—and his toys—with every foster pup that comes through the door. “He’s such a good sport,” she says. “He definitely misses them when they leave.”
When she’s not fostering, Christi loves concerts, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She’s spent most of her adult life in clerical work, but dreams of running a doggy daycare or in-home pet sitting business one day. Until then, she’s staying true to her mission: helping save dogs, one life at a time.
Christi, your compassion and resilience are a gift to this rescue, and every pup lucky enough to land in your care feels it. Thank you for being such a vital part of the KCK family.
We’re incredibly lucky to have you in our pack.
